As you begin a new year, I encourage you to focus your energy on the one vision that will move you toward the best version of your role as an educator. What are the goals, strategies, books you can read, classes you can take that will make the greatest impact on the way you teach and inspire your students?
You should thread your focus through everything you do in your life and in the classroom. Each decision you make, from the smallest to the biggest, should connect back to that larger vision of what you want to contribute to the face of education.
What will you focus on this year that will move you closer to revolutionizing education ?
If you find yourself at a loss as to what your vision should be, it may help you to sit down and create a vision board or a strategic life plan. Your role in shaping the world of education begins with organizing your life so that you can make the most impact. You’ll need to build habits and take steps that will move you toward your overall vision.
Whatever you do, be sure to keep your focus on that vision and do not get caught up on focusing on the obstacles and problems that will come up along the way. You get more of what you focus on. If you focus on the obstacles and problems, you will get more of them. If you focus on successfully achieving your vision, you will see progress toward that end.
What contribution will you make this year?
